What an awesome thing bringing life into this world! Puppies - always so cute, no one can deny that! Whether they grow up to be a furry family member, a good old hunting dog, or a National Field Trial Champion, or all three they all started out so cute and cuddly!
We here at J & M Retrievers are proud and excited for this new litter. First time father and mother for this litter and we have been waiting for years for it to come. Jack is 4 years old and Keelin is 2. Both have hips and elbows certified as good and have been extremely healthy dogs. We owned Jack's father - Beau and Beau's mother Nikki, as well as still own his mother Diamond. If your searching for that all around dog we have it here. Great temperament in the house, excellent hunters of upland and waterfowl. Hunt test and field trial background but enough of the right stuff to be great with kids in the family and still have that go and endurance for those long hunting trips! Want more info visit our pedigrees on our breeding pages as well as contact us for more details! KEELIN and JACK's litter has been confirmed by ultrasound on 01/20/2016. We have created a list for buyers. If you would like more information please contact us for details as well as answering your questions. This will be a first time litter for both but we have been extremely excited about this litter ourselves. Updates can be found here or on our Facebook page!
DID YOU KNOW??
Dogs that are healthy, and not a breed at risk for bloat, should be fed ONCE a day a minimum of 10 to 12 hours before exercise. Eating creates an insulin spike that inhibits a dog's ability... to use fat, the most important energy fuel! (Dogs burn fat first!) Insulin also increases the uptake of glucose (sugar) from the blood into the muscles, which causes fatigue from low blood sugar. Feeding shortly before exercise increases blood flow to the gut and this in turn decreases the amount of blood available to the working muscles. When we go to all day and multiple day events such as hunting, field trials, hunt tests, or other performance events it is so beneficial and in our minds crucial for us to keep our athletes healthy and well conditioned for less injuries and/or other problems. So don't forget to allow them adequate time for cooling down and digesting their meal before the next day of hunting, field trials, hunt tests, or other performance events. Our dogs are fed once a day in the afternoon/evening year round so there bodies are always at a great performance level even in the off season. Sometimes with illnesses or other dietary issues we may have to feed twice a day for a specific dog. How do you fuel your dog? - We feed only Pro Plan. Our current litter is now 6 weeks old! They are completely weened off from mother (Diamond). Most are sold, the GREEN Male is still available. So if you are interested give us a call or send us an email and we would be happy to assist you! They now have their first series of vaccinations and are all exploring well. They have been individually checking out other parts of our house and they all have a lot of curiosity about things. We are planning on getting them outside on a warmer day for them to explore outside for a short time as well. Enjoy the photos and check back here weekly for more photos and other exciting things that pertain to dogs!
Puppies are getting big! They are exploring more and more each day! Some are cooperative for photos others not so much. Almost weened off of their mother and they are eating puppy food well. All puppies are now marked with colored ribbon to track for picks and personality traits. Enjoy!!
