Jon and Michelle
Having a great love for animals and a passion for clean, healthy, and proper care for all animals is our basis behind our facility.
Background Jon grew up with several dogs in the family and initially started working professionally for a boarding and training facility when he was 12 years of age. Learning many important skills along the way such as training and the proper care for dogs. Jon's family has also had several litters of puppies growing up and with his knowledge of training, quality pedigrees, and proper dog care combined with experience led him to where he and Michelle are now. Jon and Michelle became a team in July of 2005. Michelle has the same love for animals as Jon, but owning horses at that time. It made for a great team in learning different methods and strategies from different animal platforms which increased training ideals in dogs for Jon and horses for Michelle. Michelle currently trains horses for Dressage as well as showing them in competitions. Michelle also has many years of experience in the care of animals from large to small. Michelle has a Bachelors degree in the animal health field and a business minor. Jon has a Bachelors degree in Natural Resources and Law Enforcement. They both believe a high level of education and a hard work ethic is important in running a business and keeping it successful. After completing their degrees they eventually found their way back to the Iron Range. They then designed and planned the current facility which was opened in November of 2012. J & M Retrievers was previously established before the current facility was built but only offering Breeding and Training as a service. The new facility was built as an addition to J & M Retrievers to add Boarding as a service for all breeds of dogs. |
